Ceramic Studio & Exhibition Space @ Rooftile Factories

Rooftile factory situated as an embassy for the artists and participants. In each embassy will built a ceramic studio and small exhibition space at some rooftile factories we selected. Studio act as a starting point now, because after more than 100 years Jatiwangi works with the ceramic roof-tile, never have a studio as a laboratory in the roof-tile factory to experiment and develop the clay both idea nor product. This studio hope can generate new exploration opportunities from terracotta and to boost the autonomy of the Jatiwangi residents’ economy as the way to realizing the Terracotta City.

Rooftile in Residency

The artist in residency program located at the roof tile factories, so they can meet and feel Jatiwangi people’s basic work and later will be able to unravel activities related to mapping cultural ecosystems that encourage the growth of the industrial/ creative economy. In order to find the needs of Terracotta City; the invited artist/ ceramist/ musician/ architect/ art planner, etc., will work with the local material, workers, and people around there in period June – September, to be exhibited in October 2019.
